Our initial focus centered on developing an enterprise-grade, open-source credentials management platform. We architected our solution using Go for robust backend performance and evolved from traditional web applications to browser extensions to enhance security posture. However, comprehensive market research revealed that while organizations desperately needed such solutions, the operational complexity of self-hosting and compliance requirements created significant adoption barriers.
This insight drove our strategic pivot toward personal credential management, but with an ambitious technical foundation. We developed our core encryption and identity protocols in Rust, compiled to WebAssembly for optimal performance and security. Leveraging Tauri for cross-platform desktop applications, we addressed one of the most persistent challenges in offline password management: seamless synchronization across devices.
During our development of peer-to-peer synchronization using Iroh, we identified a transformative opportunity. Rather than simply improving existing paradigms, we envisioned a fundamental shift: empowering individuals with dedicated infrastructure for managing their digital identity and credentials. This evolved into a more comprehensive platform where users maintain sovereign control over their data while enabling selective sharing with granular access controls.
